Objective: This study aims to determine the professional self-esteem and cognitive distortions of nursing students. Method: The study, as an identifier, was carried out with the students studying in the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences of Ondokuz Mayıs University. The study was carried out with 332 volunteer students Sociodemographic data form, “Cognitive Distortion Scale” and “Professional Self-Esteem Scale” was used. The analysis of the obtained data was done with SPSS 21 statistical program on average, percentage calculations. Findings: It has been reported that 56% of the students who participated in the study were between 18-20 age group, 27.1% were second grade, 79.2% were female and 96.7% were single. 57.2% of the students answered ‘yes’ to the question ‘Would you recommend to nursing as a job?’. It was reported that students’ Professional Self-Esteem Average scores were 78.73±10.82 and Cognitive Distortion Average scores were 91,70±25,59. Result: As a result, it was determined that the average students’ professional self-esteem moderate and cognitive distortion score low level. It is recommended to increase the awareness of students about professional self-esteem and cognitive distortions.
